A. Mobile (MOB) is approximately 1-hour away, but the closest airport is Pensacola (PNS), approximately 35 minutes from the Gulf Shores area. Major carriers include Delta, US AIR, Northwest, Continental, American and Air Tran with non-stops between Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Minneapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati, New York, Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa.
A. Our variety of signature golf courses is second to none. Creatively designed by some of the greatest names in golf course architecture, including Arnold Palmer, Larry Nelson, Bruce Devlin, Jerry Pate, Earl Stone and Robert Von Hagge, the area offers everything from scenic coast lines to wetland preserves, to rolling hills, to links-style golf, to courses cut right out of an Alabama forest preserve.
A. Our golf courses have joined forces with local accommodations to promote the area through very affordable golf packaging. Our lodging partners include everything from a world-class resort, to affordable "national chain" hotels, to on-site golf condominiums, to luxury beach-front homes and condos. While your best value will come from a golf package offered by one of our participating accommodations, "golf-only" packages can be made by calling (888) 815-1902 or tee times may be booked online by visiting the "online reservations" section of this web site. To get a la cart pricing for the area golf courses, it is best to contact each course individually as “walk-up” rates often change depending upon the time of day and time of year. A. We handle all golf packages at the accommodation level. Once you've selected the accommodation or package that's right for you, (1) Choose the golf courses you want to play and your preferred starting times; (2) Call (or link to) the hotel, resort property or accommodation directly; (3) Then, leave the details to us.
A. Since we promote a dozen different lodging partners, it's hard to recommend one accommodation over another. If you already have a price range, we suggest you look through the golf package rates that our accommodations have posted and pick one. We can assure you that any place you pick will offer a great room at a very affordable price.
A. All golf packages offered by our participating accommodations include green fees, cart rental and all taxes for one (1) eighteen-hole play. Range balls and bag transfers vary by accommodation.
A. We play golf year-round! We have extremely long falls and springs, with January and February temps typically in the 50's and 60’s. Most of the groups that take advantage of our golf packages come in February - May or August - November. Summer is typically families on "beach vacations," with great golf still available.
A. No, none of the golf packages offered by our participating accommodations include "unlimited" golf. However, the courses offer very favorable "replay" rounds. These rounds are handled at the course level, day of play, and are subject to availability. The accommodation that you choose will book your morning round as part of the package, and then when you arrive at the course, let the staff know that you are interested in a replay round.
A. Most area golf courses allow single players. Whenever possible, singles are paired-up with other golfers.
A. Most area golf courses allow non-golfing spectators. It is best to check with the individual golf courses regarding specific rates and age requirements.
A. Rental sets of golf clubs are available at all area golf courses. The brand and price of rental clubs will vary from course to course. Each player is required to have his/her own golf bag and set of clubs.
A. All golfers must be properly attired at the golf courses. Most participating facilities require men to wear collared shirts. Tank tops are not permitted for men. Bermuda-length shorts are invited. Some area golf courses will accept denim, but frayed cut-offs are not permitted. Soft spikes are mandatory at all area golf courses.
A. All area golf courses feature the ultra-dwarf stands of Bermuda Grass like Tif-Eagle, Tif-Dwarf and Flora-Dwarf. The local climate is too warm to sustain year-round Bent Grass greens although all area golf courses overseed for the fall, winter and spring with bent-type grasses.
A. All area golf courses are within 45 minutes of downtown Gulf Shores and 8 of the 9 are within 20 miles of downtown Gulf Shores.
