The resort townships of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach comprise the area's 32-miles of sugar-white sand beaches. Cities like Atlanta, Chattanooga, Memphis, Nashville and Houston are all just a short day's drive away. And if you live in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Montgomery or Jackson, you can be here in a few hours. Mobile (MOB) is approximately 1-hour away, but the closest airport is Pensacola (PNS), approximately 35 minutes from the Gulf Shores area. Major carriers include Delta, US AIR, Northwest, Continental, American and Air Tran with non-stops between Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Minneapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati, New York, Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa.
